After coming up with Guides to Holland Village, Chip Bee Garden, and Dempsey Road restaurants, I have been thinking: where’s next? I want to blog about a dining area which is not known to most, and hopefully it will encourage you to check it out.
The stretch of Greenwood Avenue restaurants immediately came to mind: a) there’s a good mix of Brazilian, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, and Western restaurant, b) the restaurants at Greenwood Avenue are nice for a quiet dinner away from the city and c) not many people have been there before.
Here’s a complete guide to the Greenwood Avenue Restaurants:
Bronte
8 Greenwood Ave Singapore

Cafe Iguana //Now closed
Sometimes, it can get a little boring when we are always having French, Italian or Japanese food. One of my new year resolutions is to be more adventurous and try out some exotic cuisine that I have never tried before – Mexican food at Cafe Iguana is definitely next on the agenda!
12 Greenwood Avenue Singapore

Chat Masala Too!
The Singapore Food & Beverage industry is a very difficult place to survive in – restaurants open and close all the time. When I walked past Chat Masala Too restaurant after my dinner at Greenwood fish market, the Indian restaurant was completely empty for the night. If you are a fan of the Indian food there, I think you need to get some friends down to support them before it’s too late.
18 Greenwood Avenue Hillcrest Park Singapore
Tel: +65 6762 2133
Donna Carmela/Caipirinha
From what I understand, Donna Carmela and Caipirinha belong under the same owner, with the former being an Italian restaurant and the latter serving Brazilian churrascaria.
2 Greenwood Avenue Hillcrest Park Singapore

Greenwood Fish Market
When I went to Greenwood Fish Market three years ago, I had the best fish and chips in my life! Is the fish and chips still as good? Wait for my next post, I will be blogging about the supposedly “best fish and chips in Singapore” (from my memory).
34 Greenwood Avenue Hillcrest Park Singapore

La Braceria Pizza and Grill
Positioned directly at the back of Greenwood is Greendale Avenue, there’s La Braceria Pizza and grill. I actually missed it when I was there, and only came to know about it after coming across the restaurant online.
5 Greendale Avenue Singapore

Lana Cake Shop
Can you believe it? I HAVE NOT TRIED LANA CHOCOLATE CAKE BEFORE! Pfft!
I can foresee that this will probably be one of my biggest regret in life. Okay, I shall make an order for the legendary chocolate cake from Lana Cake Shop soon!
Get me a slice of the lana chocolate cake, and I will love you forever!
36 Greenwood Avenue Singapore

Peperoni Pizzeria
Having heard good things about Peperoni Pizzeria, this is definitely the next restaurant at Greenwood Avenue that I want to try.
6 Greenwood Avenue Hillcrest Park Singapore
Tel: +65 6465 6556
Punggol Choon Seng Seafood Restaurant
The Chinese seafood restaurant seems a little out of place in Greenwood Avenue, but hey, if you are craving for some Chinese seafood, here’s the place for you.
14 Greenwood Avenue Hillcrest Park Singapore
Tel: +65 6465 4621
Raku Japanese Restaurant & Bar
I’m not too sure if you will go all the way to Greenwood Avenue for Raku Japanese restaurant since they have another branch in Holland Village. With that being the only deciding factor, I’d probably go for the Japanese ala carte buffet at Shin Yuu Japanese restaurant instead.
10 Greenwood Avenue Hillcrest Park Singapore

Shin Yuu Japanese Restaurant
16 Greenwood Avenue Hillcrest Park Singapore

The Wagon Wheel
22 Greenwood Avenue Hillcrest Park Singapore

Now, who says that there’s no good food in the West of Singapore? Holland Village, Chip Bee Garden, and Greenwood Avenue are all located in the West. There are actually plenty of nice restaurants and cafes in the west if you know where to find them.
Tell me, which is your favorite restaurant at Greenwood Avenue, and which one are you going to try next?

i cant believe you havent tried the choco cake from lana cake shop! fellow westie! where have you beeeeeeeen all this while? hahah!
I was brought to a Chinese zichar restaurant and had my best black pepper crab there a couple of years ago, can’t remember the name of the restaurant though.
when you’re at lana cake shop, do try the banana walnut too!
ps. i love the fish market’s mushroom soup too
chat masala too serves excellent indian food. especially their kebabs. the few times ive been there, there were quite a few other tables occupied. i sure hope they don’t close down anytime soon!
peperoni pizzeria serves LARGE pizzas so its great for group gatherings. the selection of alcohol is varied and its basically a nice place to chill at night. the food is just decent for me though. nothing fantastic, but i would patronise that restaurant/bar from time to time.
no complaints about the food in raku. its fairly pricey but the standard and quality of food justifies the pricing. only thing i don’t like is that its tooooo dim/dark inside! i do like being able to see my food
greenwood fish market not only serves great fish and chips. there’s this seafood platter thing that serves 2-3 costing about $80? $90? THAT is what makes the waiting worth it!
lana cake shop is always closed everytime i go there for dinner! and the staff is kinda rude. personally, i don’t have a liking for traditional cakes so i can’t really comment!
donna carmela was forgettable. except for the nice ambience and live music. but their pastas are value for money in my opinion!
what a long comment! you should definitely try out all the restaurants along this stretch of road… my parents raised me on food around this area! and i’m still loving it after all these years
tar: HELLO! cannot afford? who are u kidding! hahaha yes i can’t believe i haven’t try lana chocolate cake yet. my life is so sad right?
umasou: Is it the one that i listed? Punggol Choon Seng Seafood Restaurant? It seems to be the only Chinese restaurant in Greenwood avenue
Ai Ling: hahah is the mushroom soup really tat good? don’t tempt me! lol
keejia: wow thanks for the long comment! hehe ya man when i was there that night, greenwood fish market seems to be the only restaurant that’s full. The other Greenwood Avenue restaurants are mostly empty. I heard about the huge pizzas from peperoni, will bring a group of friends there to attack it! hee
is the seafood platter substantial? did you order other stuff other than that platter? yea i am so going back to the Greenwood Avenue restaurants soon! : )
Guide us for Sunset way?!
hazel: How did u read my mind? haha sunset way is coming right up! : )
I live down the end of Greenwood Ave and frequent these restaurants quite often, our favourites are Donna Carmela, Shin Yuu and Bronte. While we have also been to the fish market for fish n chips and pepperoni for pizza
We have eaten often at Donna Carmela and we really like the cold meats and cheese selection and breads on offer. Pasta Linguine is good.
Shin Yuu is great for lunch on the weekend if your looking for light Japanese food
While Bronte is good for a sizable breakfast brunch on the weekends after a cycle. Coffee is great too.,
In terms of getting there, when driving down bukit timah road, take the uturn at Hwa Chong school, onto Dunearn then first left on Hillcrest then onto Greenwood. If you hit 6th Ave you have gone too far. cheers
We went to Bronte Saturday and it was wonderful.
Just called Bronte and they are closed for good!
Love your reviews. Try Baker & Cook, wonderful sourdough bread, and great croissants.
La Braceria Pte Ltd,5 Greendale Ave Singapore 289501,6465 5918, labraceria.com.sg
I just ate here for the second time. For a neighborhood restaurant, La Braceria has superb quality food. The sauce is the pride of the chef and the Bufala pizza has the same unique slightly burnt tomato sauce taste that I grew up with in New York City. Buffalo mozzarella on a pizza is a luxury and a delight. My husband’s mushroom risotto was a big hit (creamy and flavorful) with the aroma of truffles. Our dessert, profiteroles hooked us forever. There was a flavoring in the cream, perhaps almond, perhaps a liqueur, that made it outstanding. The dark chocolate sauce was rich, thick and still warm on the plate. I haven’t had such good profiteroles since the Brasserie at Marco Polo closed. I will be back!
Hi Brad, will you be updating this list? I was researching places to eat at Greenwood and this entry comes up right on top despite being a 2010 list, but the restaurant scene has changed quite a bit since. Would love to read the list if you decide to update!
@Amanda Hello Amanda, my apologies. This is indeed a very outdated guide. Will make a trip to Greenwood Avenue soon to check out the new places.
