This guide to the best desserts in Singapore was last updated on 03 December 2015.
Creme brûlée, macaron, soufflé, tiramisu, madeleine… Desserts are not only the best food for the soul, they have the loveliest names that touch the heart too! It is no secret that we love desserts and over the past few years, we have tried many desserts from restaurants, cafes, patisseries and bakeries. Some are life-changing, some are mind-blowingly out of the world, some take our breath away…
Well, whatever they are, they are not to be missed. Here is our guide on Singapore’s Must Try Desserts.
The desserts are not ranked in any order, and we will update this guide from time to time when we discover new desserts that are worthy to be listed.
AND ALL THINGS DELICIOUS STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING
Tucked away in a small corner of Crawford Lane, And All Things Delicious is a halal cafe and bakery that specialises in cakes and pastries.
The Sticky Toffee Pudding (S$5.90) was so well-made, we finished it in a few bites. While we were slightly apprehensive about the generous drizzle of toffee sauce, we came to realize that the sauce was actually just right and the sweetness did not overwhelm us. The sponge cake underneath was nice and fragrant with evenly grounded pieces of dates.

ARTEASTIQ BOUTIQUE TEA HOUSE OSMANTHUS CRÈME BRÛLÉE
Arteastiq Boutique Tea House at Mandarin Gallery exudes the kind of sexiness you would associate with a date night, or a regal dining affair for the high society.
The Silk Thread (S$13) is an interesting rendition of crème brûlée. It is not your usual sweet custard; it is infused with osmanthus. Lightly creamy and significantly less sweet, this variation is served with fresh plump berries, and ideal for those who normally do not prefer the classic rich custard.

ANTOINETTE PATISSERIE ANTOINETTE EARL GREY CHOCOLATE CAKE
Antoinette Patisserie has an impressive range of desserts like Mont Blanc, Le Royale, Saint Honoré l’ Amour, Strawberry Shortcake, and Charlotte, but our favourite is the namesake creation, Antoinette – a milk chocolate mousse infused with earl grey tea.

BANANA TREE FLOWER POT DESSERT
Banana Tree is a popular South Korean cafe chain with many outlets in its homeland. It is known for its ‘Garden’-themed desserts served in pots with spoons shaped like spades. The adorable Flower Paap (S$6.50) houses a delicious banana pudding served with oreo ‘soil’ and topped off with chocolate pebbles.

BEANSTRO SALTED CARAMEL BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING
It is not easy to find a good bread and butter pudding in Singapore, so we were pretty surprised by Beanstro’s version of Salted Caramel Bread & Butter Pudding (S$9).
The traditional bread and butter pudding is made better with the addition of salted caramel – you definitely have to try this when you are dining at Beanstro.

BELLA PIZZA TIRAMISU
Bella Pizza at Robertson Quay has been around for years, and it is one of the more under-rated Italian restaurants in town. What we love, besides the excellent pizzas and pastas, is the Tiramisu (S$9).

CAKE SPADE STRAWBERRY TOFU CHEESECAKE
The owners of Cake Spade strive to provide maximum satisfaction with every bite of their creations and freshness is of utmost importance; no artificial preservatives have been used in any of the baked-from-scratch desserts.
Brilliant tasty creations include their signature strawberry tofu cheesecake (S$5.90 per slice) and nutella fudge crumble (S$4.20 per slice) – we found ourselves hopelessly addicted to their crunchy biscuit base.

CARPENTER & COOK PASSIONFRUIT MERINGUE TART
One of our favourite dessert places in Singapore, Carpenter & Cook is a charming vintage home store and artisan bakery café located in the west. It has a slew of delicious desserts like the carrot cake, lemon tart, and lemon drizzle cake, but its Passionfruit Meringue Tart is in a completely different league, and so good that it has won our loyalty.

CIEL PATISSERIE STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE
The Hougang neighbourhood may seem like an unlikely place to find a French patisserie, but that is exactly where Ciel Patisserie is located. Unassuming but very surprising, this small patisserie has a wholesome range of cakes (S$4.80 – S$5.80), and tarts (S$4.20), but what you must try is its cloud-light fluffy Strawberry Shortcake.
Ciel Patisserie’s strawberry shortcake is listed in our guide to Singapore’s best strawberry shortcakes.

CLUB STREET SOCIAL NUTELLA BREAD & BUTTER PUDDING
The first time we had the Nutella Bread & Butter Pudding (S$11) from Club Street Social, it was underwhelming – the pudding was too dry and there was nothing to shout home about it. After trying it again recently, it was so much better. Topped with a scoop of ice cream and doused in nutella, the bread and butter pudding was moist and delightful.

COMESTIVEL DESSERTS NUTELLA CHEESECAKE
A nondescript outlet at Siglap Centre, Comestivel Desserts is our newly discovered favourite in the East. It is a halal-certified cafe that dishes out a variety of tarts and cheesecakes, and boy, do we love that delightful assortment! Our favourites are the Nutella Cheesecake (S$8) and GWC Tart (S$7) – Toblerone, M&M’s, Kinder Bueno and Oreo on a chocolate tart base.

COOK & BREW SMOKED BACON CARAMEL CHOCOLATE BAR
It sounds strange, but it is absolutely to die for. Heaven meets Earth when bacon is put into chocolates. Who would have thought that the sweet-savoury combination would be so flawless?
Cook & Brew’s Smoked Bacon Caramel Chocolate Bar (S$13) is easily the most decadent chocolate bar we’ve had in recent times. Like Snickers, but way better and comes with dates, hazelnut and smoked bacon, topped with chocolate sauce and maple candied bacon strip. This is one hell of a life-changing dessert and you have to try it to believe what good it does for your soul!

DAZZLING CAFE HAZELNUT CHOCOLATE HONEY TOAST
You would definitely have seen Dazzling Cafe’s insanely pretty range of Shibuya Toasts on all your social media platforms by now and we agree that they are worth the hype.
Our favourite has to be the Hazelnut Chocolate Honey Toast (S$19.90). The attention to detail is resounding, the cream that sits atop carefully designed and each cube of toast s filled with hazelnut chocolate – sinful goodness!
Dazzling Cafe’s Honey Toast is listed in our guide to Singapore’s Best Shibuya Toast.

DESSERT PROJECT PARMA HAM & MELON ICE CREAM
It might seem challenging to convert such an intricate ingredient to an ice cream flavour, but the people at Dessert Project aced it with their Melon Parma Ham Ice Cream (S$4.50). The bits of ham left a piquant aftertaste which did not steal the limelight from the melon ice cream base. Be sure to try out their other creations such as White Truffle, White Rabbit Candy and After Eight.
Dessert Project’s Parma Ham & Melon Ice Cream is listed in our guide to 10 Uncommon Ice Cream Flavours in Singapore.

With several desserts like nutella chocolate tart, carrot cake, and salted caramel tart on rotation, you will be spoiled silly at Drury Lane. We love their Candy Bar Pie (S$5) – which is actually more like a tart made of salted caramel, peanut butter nougat, with a chocolate glaze.
Drury Lane also has several muffins – matcha, peanut butter, banana & walnut – in its repertoire. What makes the muffins special is that you can pay-as-you-wish. Get your coffee fix here and grab a muffin or two.

EDGE HOMEMADE GLUTEN-FREE NAMA CHOCOLATES
It is a tough choice, but if we could only choose one reason to return to Edge at Pan Pacific Singapore, it would be the homemade gluten-free Nama chocolates that are available in three flavours – passionfruit, matcha and rum & chocolate. It is frankly as good, if not better, than the famous Japanese chocolate brand that everyone knows of and associates nama chocolates with, and we can easily eat a dozen of these pillowy-soft chocolates. Unfortunately, they are exclusive to the buffet spread, else we’d gladly take some home.

HOSHINO COFFEE VANILLA/MATCHA SOUFFLÉ
The pot-baked soufflé (S$10.80) is available in either matcha or vanilla flavour. Each soufflé is baked upon order, so do be prepared to wait for at least 20 minutes before the dessert is presented to you fresh from the oven.
Watch in awe as the soufflé’s jiggly pillow-like top eventually collapses into the ceramic dish containing it. If you have ordered the vanilla soufflé, you can choose from viscous chocolate or thick custard sauce as condiments. We suggest the former, because chocolate is always more decadent and satisfying, yes?

Les Delices may be a newcomer in the Tanjong Pagar vicinity but is no stranger to the media. Co-owner cum pastry chef Georgina Sim was previously trained in Le Cordon Bleu; the culinary school has groomed famous graduates such as American Chef Julia Child and Peruvian Chef Gaston Acurio.
Instead of succumbing to industry’s demands of coffee and customizable cakes, the Parisan-style café has decided to focus on a limited menu of French pastries and teas. Their specialty is the cream filled light Choux Pastry (S$5.90) but their other desserts such as the rich Heavenly Valrhona Chocolate Dome (S$10.90) are equally popular. PINE GARDEN’S CAKE LYCHEE MARTINI
One of the most established old-school bakeries in Singapore, Pine Garden’s Cake has reinvented itself in recent years to offer a selection of modern cakes alongside its traditional bakes.
Other than its signature Blackforest Gateau, the cake that we love the most is the Lychee Martini (S$2.80/slice or S$46 for 1kg) – a delightful multi-layer lychee cake with martini soaked lychee fillings.

POULET TIRAMISU
Poulet is a familiar name that we always turn to when we want trusty comfort food without breaking the bank. While most people go to Poulet for its roast chicken, its tiramisu (S$7.90) deserves a special mention too. The tiramisu is consistently good and we will return again and again for the generous portion (in a jar).

PS Cafe has several versions of Steamed Puddings (S$12.90). From the lemon pudding with homemade lemon custard sauce, to a summer berry pudding, and the classic sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce – it caters to different taste buds. However, our favourite is the steamed ginger pudding with earl grey creme anglaise.

TART BLANC BANANA CHOCOLATE SILK TART
We are a huge fan of tarts, so we were thrilled to discover Tart Blanc at Millenia Walk. Well, it is going to be a secret no more, but this cute little patisserie cafe that specialises in tarts deserves a huge shout-out. Best sellers include Banana Chocolate Silk Tart (S$7) and Blood Orange Matcha Tart (S$7.50), but we’d suggest making a trip back every week to try something new.

There are some cafes that serve good savoury dishes, but fare poorly for desserts. And then, there are places that do remarkable desserts but you definitely wouldn’t want to go there for a proper meal.
Two Bakers, on the other hand, tick all the right boxes. It is a cosy space that sits along Horne Road and they do both mains and desserts really well. Our favourite dessert is the Key Lime Tart. Tart and tangy, it is baked to perfection. Equally good are the Passionfruit Tart and Salted Caramel Eclair.

WA CAFE HONEY TOAST WITH MATCHA AND ORGURA PASTE
Wa Cafe presents a brilliant Honey Toast with Matcha and Orgura Paste (S$16.50) that is probably the closest you can get to a true blue Japanaese Shibuya Toast in Singapore.
Topped off with a mountain of ingredients, expect to see ice cream, azuki (red bean) and a huge dollop of whipped cream. The overall combination of the different elements weaved into each other really well, and is one version of Shibuya Toast that is most definitely worth every cent (and calorie)!
Wa Cafe’s Honey Toast is listed in our guide to Singapore’s Best Shibuya Toast.

Wimbly Lu has the best waffles ($8.50 with a scoop of ice cream) in town. We have had it on several occasions and we never got sick of the consistently good dessert – it is always crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. It is very close to our definition of how a good waffle should be.
Wimbly Lu’s waffles is listed in our guide to Singapore’s best waffles.

WINDOWSILL IN THE WOODS GRASSHOPPER PIE
A cosy cafe at Jalan Besar that focuses on pies. We love the Grasshopper Pie – a yummy chocolate flourless cake topped with mint cream – and the Strawberry Lemon, a strawberry lemon meringue tart, has the perfect balance between sweet and tart. Other interesting flavours that are worth trying are the Coconut Lime Vodka, and S’mores.
