Located just across the Serangoon Stadium, it is pretty easy to miss The Plain Jane – a quaint little cafe which just opened recently; it is unassuming, but definitely worth looking out for. The interior is filled with vintage items and collectibles, and how we love those hanging lightbulbs.
Jane, the lady boss (hence, the name of this cafe) shared about her daily fresh bakes with much enthusiasm. Do not expect rainbows cakes and bright bakes here, because Jane likes to keep everything simple. Well, The Plain Jane, right?
While the cafe is still working on their brunch menu, you can meanwhile enjoy a small menu of savoury items. Else, grab a nice warm cuppa alongside their signature Swiss Rolls. The Plain Jane seems like just the best place for a some nice quiet me-time.
We ordered an Earl Grey Swiss Roll (S$5.90) to try and being avid fans of tea-anything the robust flavours of Earl Grey won us over.
We settled for a glass of Iced Latte (S$6) to complete our afternoon. Yes, always a fan of Iced Latte and this cool glass sure gave us the caffeine kick that we needed.
Jane had us try some of her new creations such as Red Velvet Brownies, Peanut Butter Cookies and our surprising favourite – Fruit Cake Biscotti (S$4.90 for 100g). It came as a delightful surprise because we are generally not big fans of fruit cakes. Other than making us fruit cake converts, the biscotti was so good, we are actually fans now!
