The world is crazy about KitKat – not the regular ones in red wrapper that we can get from any parts of the world, but the flavoured ones that are only available in Japan.
These special edition KitKats are spread out all over Japan, and every city has its own flavours. In a rainbow of colours they are, often in very seasonal flavours that is unique to the respective Japanese cities.
We have become collectors in our own rights, and this is our conquer by far. Every time we travel to Japan, and chance upon of these special edition KitKats, we are sure to grab them. From purple sweet potato (Kyushu’s flavour) and red bean (Hokkaido’s flavour) to Rum & Raisin (Tokyo’s flavour) and Wasabi (Shizuoka’s flavour), we love them all.
And we made a great discovery recently. They are actually available somewhere outside of Japan – 15 Japanese-flavoured Kitkats in ONE place. Guess where?
Who would have thought that the Gourmet Market at the basement of Siam Paragon would be the secret gateway to heaven?!
When strolling in the compound of Gourmet Market, we chanced upon a shrine of Japanese KitKats. Yes – a whole section dedicated to the various special editions that we only saw in Japan before.
God, were we over the moon! HELLO AGAIN, JAPANESE KITKATS.
The Japanese flavours here include:
Strawberry Cheesecake (Yokohama)
Rum & Raisin (Tokyo)
Azuki Sandwich (Tokai & Hokuriku)
Houjicha (Kyoto)
Shinshu Apple (Nagano)
Amaou Strawberry Kitkat (Kyushu)
Wasabi (Shizuoka)
Purple Sweet Potato (Okinawa & Kyushu)
Matcha (Kyoto)
Sakura Matcha (Tokyo)
Wa-ichigo Strawberry (Tokyo)
Baked Sweet Potato (Kawagoe)
With Bangkok being of such close proximity to most of us in Singapore and Indonesia, this only means the KitKats are so much more accessible and we can now have KitKat parties any time we like.
That said, we are not too sure if the sale at Gourmet Market is temporary. Fingers crossed that they would keep the section there for all of us Japanese KitKat lovers!

???????????????????????? LAMEEEEE I thought in Singapore?!
This is superb! I would never even imagine that flavored kitkats in such a variety could exist!
I’m definitely going to try to get my hands on some when someone travels that side!
Cheers!
